TRUMP IS NOT THE PROBLEM
Watch Out for The Wizards Behind the Curtain
As Trump revels in his newly reinforced role as strongman and martyr, and his acolytes enjoy the glory of their echo chamber, they seem to be extremely confident that they will prevail in the November election. It is not just the polls or Joe Biden’s frailty giving them that confidence; they have rigged the game the same way they falsely accused the Democrats of rigging the 2020 election. The Democrats and the media don’t seem to realize this, but they need to pay attention.
Trump is not the problem. He is simply the useful fool who will lead the misinformed low-information voters to the slaughterhouse, along with all of us who know better. He is a puppet for a group of extraordinarily wealthy people – nearly all men – who want to destroy the democratic government of the United States for personal gain. They seek power to control the behavior of others and freedom from government regulation and oversight so that they can plunder the country’s resources. Some of them, like Viktor Orban and Vladimir Putin, are foreign leaders, but others, like Andrew Mellon, Peter Theil, and Elon Musk, are U.S. citizens. And they have succeeded in reaching deep within our government.
This group has been working quietly behind the proverbial curtain for decades. They now control the Supreme Court, the House of Representatives, Fox News, the most powerful internet social media channels, and the Republican Party. They have captured the poorly educated voters, the neo-Christian fundamentalists, and many police, veterans, and active-duty military people. They are extraordinarily dangerous. And they are now so confident of their ability to take over this country in November that they are openly declaring how they plan to do it.
The official Republican party platform is a lightly sanitized version of the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, a specific and detailed plan to replace our democratic government and its professional work force with a totalitarian oligarchy that operates outside of the rule of law and is not subject to any checks or balances. Once that happens, it could take decades for the country to recover. We only have to look at what happened in Russia after Putin was elected, what happened in Hungary after Orban was elected, and what happened in Venezuela after Maduro was elected. All three of these authoritarian leaders were freely elected on platforms similar to Trump’s, and all three countries have suffered catastrophic financial and social failures.
Why has this plan not been exposed earlier? The MAGA Republicans are masters of projection, accusing Democrats of doing all the dirty tricks that they do. For years they have also accused the left of being controlled by the “Deep State” which they define as a secret cabal of powerful people who want to enslave the population and destroy our way of life. It is now evident that it is the Republicans who have the deep state operatives, and they expect to succeed in this year’s election. Their choice of Senator Vance as vice president is a good indication of their confidence. They would be hard pressed to choose a less qualified candidate, but they know that he will be another useful fool after Trump either dies or is removed from office.
Despite the Republicans’ attitudes of invincibility, I remain confident that they will be soundly defeated up and down the ballot in November. The demographics are not on their side. Twenty percent of the Republicans who voted in the primaries chose Nicky Haley. The core of Trump’s base is old white men, many of whom have died off since 2020. Younger voters tend to be better informed and more likely to vote for Democrats – and there are more of them registered this year than in 2020. Most importantly, women will be coming out in force to vote against the Republican actions to control their reproductive choices. I suspect many Republican women will secretly vote for Democrats while telling their MAGA Republican husbands they support Trump.
